PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A former Portland television news director has pleaded not guilty to nine federal counts of fraud and making false statements.
The Oregonian reports that Jeff Alan entered the pleas Friday in U.S. District Court. Judge Donald Ashmanskas released Alan on his own recognizance and scheduled trial to begin June 22.
Alan was KOIN’s news director from 2006 to 2008. He was arrested at his Portland home early Thursday after being indicted on charges he knowingly used a false Social Security number while doing business with banks, the Internal Revenue Service and the Social Security Administration.
