Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey said Tuesday he will seek a fourth term.

No one has announced plans to run against Kimsey, a Republican first elected in 1998.

Before becoming a public official, Kimsey was chief financial officer for Vancouver Oil Co.

“The majority of my work experience is with privately owned businesses,” Kimsey said in a written statement. “Twelve years ago I campaigned with a simple message: Clark County residents would be better served by an auditor with extensive financial and management experience.

Now, during these challenging times, this experience is even more important.”

The auditor, the county’s primary financial officer, also oversees elections, recording of legal documents, marriages licenses and auto licensing.

Kimsey has been recognized as Auditor of the Year by Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed.

The auditor earns $93,313 annually.
