VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Opponents of plans to build a high-voltage power line through southwest Washington between Castle Rock and Troutdale, Ore., plan a demonstration Thursday at a Bonneville Power Administration office in Vancouver.
At least three groups of residents are trying to force the agency to choose a power line route farther away from populated areas.
Neighbors complain the 15-story power line towers would lower property values and that there could be a health risk from electromagnetic radiation.
The BPA is preparing an environmental impact statement and a final decision on the project is expected in 2012.
