ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Rays have optioned catcher Jose Lobaton to Triple-A Durham and purchased the contract of right-hander Joaquin Benoit from the International Leaue club.
The moves were made after the Rays beat Oakland 10-3 on Wednesday night.
Lobaton served as the backup for two days while starting catcher Dioner Navarro served a two-game suspension for bumping an umpire last week, which ended after Wednesday’s game.
Benoit went 0-1 with a 2.79 ERA in eight relief appearances for Durham.
