Near-perfect game for Mets’ minor leaguer

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — For 27 consecutive batters R.A. Dickey was perfect. It was the first one that got him.

The Mets minor leaguer didn’t allow a baserunner after a leadoff single on his third pitch in the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons’ 4-0 win over the Durham Bulls on Thursday night.

Dickey, who struck out six, started throwing a knuckleball after a 2005 shoulder injury cost him velocity on his fastball.

A 35-year-old right-hander, Dickey made 14 starts for Seattle in 2008 but was primarily a reliever for Minnesota last season, when he went 1-1 with a 4.62 ERA in one start and 34 relief appearances.
