ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A person familiar with the decision says the Orlando Magic have agreed to a new deal with free agent point guard Jason Williams.

The person spoke with The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the contract was still being completed Tuesday.

Williams spent last season with the Magic after taking a year off for personal reasons. He averaged six points and 3.6 assists per game last season behind starter Jameer Nelson.

Williams also started 18 games while Nelson was injured. The Magic were 14-4 in games Williams started.

The 34-year-old will become Orlando’s third point guard along with Nelson and Chris Duhon. Williams is the 13th player on Orlando’s roster, meeting the minimum required by the NBA.
