SISTERS, Ore. (AP) — A Deschutes (duh-SHOOTS’) County sheriff’s dispatcher said a wildfire burning southwest of Plainview in central Oregon laid down overnight, but winds were picking up again Tuesday morning.

The Rooster Rock fire was reported at midday Monday in the Deschutes National Forest, about six miles south of Sisters. The Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch Center said winds pushed it across 1,000 acres or about 1.5 square miles.

A Red Cross shelter was set up Monday at the Sisters Elementary School in nearby Sisters.
