VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — A 25-year-old Battle Ground woman has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in the 2009 car crash that killed a friend.
Shastina Lapping admitted Monday in Clark County Superior Court to driving while intoxicated and crashing a vehicle on May 9, 2009. Emily Buck of Battle Ground suffered blunt force injuries and died July 3, 2009.
Judge Roger Bennett sentenced Lapping to 31 months. She will also lose her driver’s license for a year.
Prosecutors say Lapping, Buck and their friends had been celebrating Buck’s birthday at a restaurant. Deputy Prosecutor Jim David says Lapping had a blood-alcohol content of 0.13 an hour and a half after the crash. The legal intoxication threshold in Washington is 0.08.
