SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A man suspected of robbing a Spokane drug store shot himself Tuesday night after police chased down his car.

Spokeswoman Jennifer DeRuwe says a police car rammed the fleeing vehicle to force it to stop. As officers approached, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot himself.

He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The Spokane County sheriff’s office is investigating.
