OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Olympia city officials now say repairing the damage from the July 8 arson at the new City Hall that’s still under construction could cost as much as $3 million.
The building was once due to open in January. The city now says it should open no later than May.
The fire caused extensive smoke and soot damage, particularly on the first and second floors.
The Olympian says 20-year-old Joshua A. Stacy has been charged with two counts of arson and two counts of burglary, accused of setting that fire and an earlier one at a construction trailer on the construction site.
