TORONTO (AP) — Blue Jays right-hander Jesse Litsch will have season-ending surgery on his right hip next week and is expected to need four to six months to recover.

Toronto placed Litsch on the 15-day disabled list Friday and recalled left-hander Brad Mills from Triple-A Las Vegas to take his spot in the rotation. Mills wall start Saturday at home to Tampa Bay.

It’s the second major injury in two seasons for Litsch, who had elbow ligament surgery in 2009. He went 1-5 with a 5.79 ERA in nine starts after returning to the Blue Jays in June.

In four seasons with Toronto, Litsch is 21-24 with a 4.10 ERA in 60 games.

Mills has made one start for Toronto this season, pitching seven shutout innings against Baltimore on July 28 for his first major league win.
