SISTERS, Ore. (AP) — A wildfire in the Deschutes National Forest has been 40 percent contained and has grown by only a few hundred acres.
The Rooster Rock fire south of the town of Sisters covered 6,134 acres by Friday, or nearly 10 square miles, but had grown only about 300 acres overnight.
Fire crews said there was a lot of smoke caused by islands of fuel burning within the fire perimeter.
The blaze started Monday. The cause remains under investigation.
