MOLALLA, Ore. (AP) — A Clackamas County sheriff’s spokesman says a skydiving instructor was killed Friday near Molalla, Ore., during what was described as a ‘high performance maneuver.’
The accident happened at Skydive Oregon. Detective Jim Strovink described the 36-year-old skydiver as highly experienced and from out of state. The man was not immediately identified pending notification of relatives.
Strovink says the man was demonstrating a special maneuver that should have been performed at a higher altitude. The spokesman says “there just wasn’t enough time for his chute to open.”
Molalla Fire District spokeswoman Denise Everhart says bystanders and then paramedics tried to revive the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
