Vancouver police converged on an area near East 30th Street and St. Johns Boulevard after a report of a stabbing.

The incident was reported to emergency dispatchers around 4:30 p.m. A man called to say he was stabbed in the chest and arm.

He described his assailant as a man wearing a white “wife-beater” type sleeveless shirt and shorts. The assailant was last seen running north, toward Highway 500.

A short time later a man matching the description was detained near 33rd and X streets, according to radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.
