MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — University of Montana football coach Robin Pflugrad is holding cornerback Jimmy Wilson out of practice as the team begins fall drills, after Wilson was cited for misdemeanor assault.

Wilson was granted an NCAA waiver to play his senior season. He was arrested just before the start of what would have been his senior season and jailed for two years in California before being acquitted of first degree murder in the shooting death of his aunt’s boyfriend.

Pflugrad said Tuesday that Wilson’s return will be a day-to-day decision, as the team gathers information about the incident.

Municipal Court Administrator Pat Morgan says Wilson was cited for misdemeanor assault for allegedly biting someone on the leg in a car early Friday. She says he pleaded not guilty Tuesday and asked for a jury trial.
