CLARK COUNTY — The Department of Ecology has posted the final cleanup plan for Camp Bonneville online.
The department developed the plan to turn 3,840 acres, which were used as a military training base from 1910 to 1995, into a regional park.
The county manages the contract, and plans to negotiate a new funding agreement with the U.S. Army and hire a contractor to continue the cleanup. The county recently took steps to end its relationship with the Bonneville Conservation, Restoration and Renewal Team, said Jeff Mize, spokesman for Clark County Public Works.
The land, about six miles north of Camas, has contaminated groundwater and soil contaminated with unexploded ordnance, explosive compounds, lead and other pollutants.
