LONDON (AP) — Organizers say Asafa Powell has pulled out of Friday’s Diamond League meet at Crystal Palace because of a nagging back problem.

The Jamaican sprinter has been struggling for the past month with a series of injuries linked to an initial groin problem.

Powell, the Diamond Race leader in the 100 meters, missed last week’s meet in Stockholm but had hoped to compete in London.

Usain Bolt, the world and Olympic 100 champion, is also absent. That leaves American sprinter Tyson Gay as the top sprint star competing at Crystal Palace.
