ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — A fan seated behind the first-base dugout was injured by a thrown bat in the first inning of the Baltimore Orioles’ game at Tampa Bay.

Baltimore leadoff man Brian Roberts lost control of his bat during a swing and it flew into the stands Saturday, hitting the guest. Stadium medical personal treated the fan in the seating area, and then used a back board to take the fan for treatment.

It is the second time in just over two weeks that a fan was injured by a flung bat at Tropicana Field. The barrel of a broken bat used by the New York Yankees’ Robinson Cano went into stands on his single July 30.
