DALLAS (AP) — IndyCar drivers will race twice in one day next year at Texas Motor Speedway, where the 2011 racing schedule also includes the track’s first Saturday night NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
The biggest changes revealed Tuesday night for the track’s 15th season of racing are the Texas two-step for the IndyCar Series, along with Sprint Cup and Nationwide night races in April on the first of the track’s two NASCAR weekends.
The twin IRL races June 11 will be the first dual races on the same day in major U.S. open-wheel racing since 1981.
The Sprint Cup race April 9 is the first 2011 night race in NASCAR’s top series. The track’s second Cup race in November during the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship remains on Sunday afternoon.
