PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — This year’s ACT scores show that Oregon high schoolers preparing for college did a little better on the entrance exam.
The average composite results were 21.5 on a scale of 36 for the four-part test. That’s up a tenth of a point from last year.
The testing organization says four students got perfect scores. More than 11,000 students took the test, about a third of the graduates.
Over the last five years, Oregon ACT scores have dropped, rebounding in the last two. Oregon averages are ahead of national averages, except in English, where they are equal.
In recent years, a few large school districts have adopted the ACT test, although the SAT remains more popular statewide. The SAT scores are due next week.
