PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A former assistant football coach at Sam Barlow High School in Gresham has pleaded guilty to failing to provide assistance to a pedestrian he injured last year.

The Oregonian reported that 47-year-old Larry Scott Vang was driving on Oregon 99E when he struck 25-year-old Benjamin Cole Story.

Vang called 911 to report he may have struck something and Story was found lying next to the highway. Story underwent surgery and suffered permanent injuries.

Vang pleaded guilty Friday in Clackamas County Circuit Court to one count of failure to perform the duties of a driver to an injured person. He will be sentenced Sept. 7 to 45 days in jail, according to terms of a plea agreement.
