RENO, Nev. (AP) — For the first time in school history, the Nevada Wolf Pack’s football games will be broadcast in Spanish this fall.

Athletic director Cary Groth said Monday all seven home games will air on Reno-based Exitos 1550 AM.

Groth says it’s important to reach out to Spanish-speaking Nevadans as part of a school concept called “One Community, One Pack.”

Nevada is one of four schools in the Western Athletic Conference with bilingual broadcasts planned this year.

Reno native Carlos Martinez will do the play-by-play with analysis from Miguel Mina, who played college football in Mexico City. Mina says they want to be a bridge between UNR and the Latino community.

The home opener against Eastern Washington Sept. 2 will be the first of its kind at either Nevada or UNLV.
