LONDON (AP) — Puma says Usain Bolt has become “the best paid athlete in track and field history” by agreeing to extend his contract with the German apparel company through 2013.
The world-record holder at both the 100 and 200 meters will be tied to the company through the 2012 London Olympics, when he is expected to attempt to retain his gold medals in both sprint events.
Puma chairman and CEO Jochen Zeitz tells The Associated Press that Bolt will be the central figure in its Olympic marketing program and he will used to help develop footwear and other apparel.
