SOMERSET, N.J. (AP) — Sky Blue FC of Women’s Professional Soccer has another player-coach.

Assistant Jennifer Grubb was added to the roster Thursday. The club won last season’s championship with veteran Christie Rampone doubling as head coach.

Grubb joined the staff Aug. 5 as part of the team’s latest coaching shake-up. Assistant Rick Stainton was promoted last month to become Sky Blue’s fifth coach in 14 months.

Rampone took over as player-coach with two games left last year.

The 32-year-old Grubb is a former U.S. national team defender. She starred at Notre Dame and for the Washington Freedom in the WPS’s predecessor, the Women’s United Soccer Association.

Sky Blue is 7-9-4 with four games left, tied for fourth out of seven teams. Four clubs make the playoffs.
