The River City Jaguars of the Northern Pacific Hockey League will hold their main tryout camp Friday through Sunday at Mountain View Ice Arena in Vancouver.

The team for players ages 16-20 moved to the Vancouver rink from Valley Ice Arena in Beaverton, and will play its first home games in early October. The NORPAC, as the league is known, is a USA Hockey sanctioned Junior A, Tier III-level league with teams in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana.

The Jaguars have signed 18 players for the coming season, according to general manager Chuck Cheshire. The team plans to carry about 25 players and expects at least 35 players from Canada and the western United States to participate in this weekend’s tryout camp.

The first ice session is at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Saturday sessions are at 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and the final session is at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. All sessions are open to the public at no charge. Mountain View Ice Arena is at 14313 SE Mill Plain.

The Jaguars play their first home games on Oct. 1-2.

In addition to finalizing the roster, Cheshire said he is still seeking homes for some players and that the team is trying to find work for players who have finished high school.
