A patrolling police officer happened upon a man with “blood near his mouth and a large lump on his head,” at about 11 p.m. Wednesday near the 10500 block of Northeast Burton Road, according to police records.

The 29-year-old Vancouver man told police he’d been walking beneath the Interstate 205 overpass when he heard footsteps approaching quickly from behind.

The victim told the Vancouver Police officer that he heard the approaching men yell something in Spanish that “sounded aggressive.” He started to run, but alleges he was quickly caught and absorbed a series of punches to his head.

As he recounted the event to police, the victim learned his wallet had been taken. It contained his Washington ID card and other documents, he told police.

He described the suspects as three Hispanic males, two traveling on foot and the third on a bike. Additional suspect information was not available.

Police asked that the victim’s name not be released while the suspects remain at-large.
