PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Wildfires pushed by strong winds are blocking roads in Eastern Washington.

A wildfire south of Pullman has shut down the southbound lanes of State Route 195 four miles south of the college town on Thursday. A detour is available.

The State Patrol said the eastbound lane of U.S. 2 at Davenport is also closed because of a wildfire. A detour is also available there.

Blowing dust has closed Highway 172 near Mansfield in Douglas County.

The National Weather Service says winds are gusting at speeds of more than 40 miles per hour in the region.
