The Sunflower Fest displays more than a dozen varieties of the fast-growing summer flower in full bloom.

It also includes arts and crafts, live music, entertainment, food, demonstrations and tours.

When: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.

Marianne Flemming will perform from 3-6 p.m.

Where: Heisen House Vineyards, 28005 N.E. 172nd Ave., Battle Ground.

Admission: Suggested donation of $5, $3 for children 5-18. Donations go toward the renovation and preservation of the Heisen Barn.

The festival is one of several weekend entertainment options in Clark County and Portland. Others include a corn bread-themed event at the Cedar Creek Grist Mill, the Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival and the theatrical re-release of “Avatar.”

1. Grist mill serves up corn bread

Visitors can enjoy several varieties of corn bread made from the cornmeal produced at the Cedar Creek Grist Mill today. Volunteers will be on hand to explain the milling process, and visitors can take home copies of the corn bread recipes.

2. Food, wine and all that jazz

The Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival features jazz, blues and Cajun performances; about 200 wines available for sampling; 10 restaurants on hand to sell food; and 40 regional artists with work on display and for sale.

The musical lineup includes Mavis Staples, John Hammond, the Brubeck Brothers Quartet, Spyro Gyra and David Sanborn. A complete lineup is available online.

When: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

3. Legends share stage in Troutdale

A pair of legendary singer-songwriters will take the stage near Portland. Bob Dylan and John Mellencamp will jointly headline the concerts.

Dylan has released dozens of albums since debuting in the 1960s and has recorded popular hits such as “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “The Times They Are A-Changin’” and “It Ain’t Me, Babe.” He released “Together Through Life” and “Christmas in the Heart” in 2009.

Mellencamp rose to prominence in the late 1970s and 1980s. He is touring in support of his latest album, “No Better Than This,” released earlier this month. The album features a mix of country, rock and folk sounds.

When: 5 tonight (sold out) and 5 p.m. Sunday.

4. ‘Avatar’ in theaters — again

The 2009 hit 3-D film “Avatar” returns to theaters this weekend with new scenes and nine minutes of additional footage.

The story follows a battle on a faraway planet, where humans and the planet’s native species are at odds over natural resources.

The science fiction epic was filmed with 3-D cameras designed exclusively for the film.
