Society of American Military Engineers: Meeting at 11 a.m. at the Governor Hotel cardroom, 614 S.W. 11th Ave., Portland. Study group for human resource professionals: Southwest Washington Human Resource Management Association is offering a 12-week study group for human resource professionals in preparation for PHR/SPHR professional certification exam or to gain a broader understanding and overview of human resources management. Christmas Tree Fair and Trade Show: The Pacific Northwest Christmas Tree Association will host its 52nd annual tree fair and trade show at the Hilton Vancouver Washington, 301 W. Sixth St. on Sept. 10 and 11. The trade show will run Sept. 10 from noon to 5 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 11. Admittance is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers.

Neil Kelly Design, Build & Remodeling free seminars: Designers teach all sessions and share trends in design, information on new materials and techniques, as well as review on the professional design/build process. The free one-hour sessions are informal in style, allowing for plenty of questions and discussion. Sept. 11 sessions at the Lake Oswego, Ore. showroom, 15573 S.W. Bangy Road, include: 9:30 a.m., kitchen and bath trends; 10:45 a.m. kitchen design and remodeling; 11:45 a.m., a Dacor appliance cooking demonstration and complimentary menu tasting; 12:45 p.m. bath design and remodeling; and 2 p.m. aging in place.
