SANDY, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police say a traffic stop for an alleged cell phone law violation led to the seizure of about two pounds of marijuana and the arrest of an Olympia, Wash., man.

Lt. Gregg Hastings says a trooper on Monday stopped a pickup truck for unlawful use of a cell phone on Oregon Highway 26 west of Sandy and noticed “an overwhelming odor of marijuana.”

The trooper arrested 26-year-old Zachary John-Richard Stockert for investigation of driving while intoxicated-drugs and unlawful possession and distribution of marijuana. He was also cited for unlawful use of a cell phone and driving while suspended.

About two pounds of marijuana valued at $5,000 was found inside two backpacks and a jar.
