BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — Gabe Rogers scored 26 points, including the go-ahead basket with 1:39 left, to propel Northern Arizona to an 81-77 victory over Cal State Bakersfield on Tuesday night.
Rogers, who made 4 of 9 3-point attempts, also had a game-high five assists as the Lumberjacks (5-2) won their fifth in a row. Shane Johannsen added 17 points, Eric Platt 13 and Cameron Jones 10.
The Roadrunners (3-4) were led by Stephon Carter’s 24 points in their second straight loss. Rashad Savage had 14, Donavan Bragg 12 and Alex Johnson 11.
Neither team led by more than three in the second half until the Roadrunners went up 57-49 with 11:51 to play. But the Lumberjacks chipped away and finally took a permanent lead on Rogers’ jumper off a fast break.
Northern Arizona outshot Bakersfield 52.6 percent (30 of 57) to 40.8 percent (29 of 71) and held a 38-36 rebounding advantage.
