Morrison, Oral Roberts top Western Illinois 71-58

MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — Dominique Morrison scored 35 points to guide Oral Roberts past Western Illinois 71-58 in a Summit League opener Thursday night.

The junior forward sank 14 of 18 shots, including 6 of 7 3-pointers, for the Golden Eagles (3-4). Steven Roundtree added 15 points and Damen Bell-Holter 11.

The Leathernecks (3-4) got 16 points from Matt Lander, 13 from David Gebru and 10 from Jack Houpt.

Oral Roberts got back preseason first-team All-Summit selection Michael Craion from a foot injury. He made his season debut and scored three points in nine minutes.

The Golden Eagles shot well, hitting 54.7 percent (29 of 53), and made 7 of their 3-point attempts. Western Illinois shot just 42.0 percent (21 of 50).

The Leathernecks did not lead after 9-7 and trailed 28-24 at the break.

Oral Roberts will not play at home until Dec. 28.
