CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — New Jersey Nets point guard Devin Harris is making a speedy recovery from a strained left knee but won’t return until Sunday at the earliest.

Harris made the trip to Charlotte and coach Avery Johnson said after shootaround Friday that they had a brief conversation about letting him play against the Bobcats. But Johnson says Harris is about 80 percent and he decided to hold him out.

Harris was injured in Monday’s loss to New York when teammate Kris Humphries fell on his knee.

Harris says he did underwater running Thursday but wasn’t allowed to participate in shootaround. He’s averaging 17.7 points and 6.6 assists.
