CAIRO, Egypt (AP) — Strikers Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o and Asamoah Gyan have been included on the African soccer confederation’s list of five nominees for the continent’s player of the year award.

Salomon Kalou and Seydou Keita complete the list announced Saturday. The CAF says the group will be trimmed to three finalists on Dec. 11 before the Dec. 20 vote.

Ivory Coast and Chelsea striker Drogba is a two-time winner of the award and helped Chelsea to the Premier League title last season.

Eto’o of Cameroon won Italy’s Serie A and the Champions League with Inter Milan, while Gyan was a star of Ghana’s run to the World Cup quarterfinals.

Kalou is another Ivory Coast and Chelsea forward. Keita plays for Barcelona and Mali.
