Talking Points 12/04

The Columbian

What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

Can Nate McMillan? Dump Brandon Roy? Hire mercenary referees?

Everyone’s looking for a panacea for the Blazers seeing how they have lost six consecutive games and are three games below .500, but the proper action right now is this: Wait. Don’t do anything rash, don’t seek a scapegoat for its own sake, evaluate the situation in an emotion-free state.

Sometimes, when the new girlfriend doesn’t call back for a couple day, and the guy will bombard her voicemail with messages about how he can’t believe she’d ignore him, or that he didn’t like her anyway, when really her phone just went out of service while visiting her sick grandmother. Neither party is served with impetuous choices like that, and the Blazers’ don’t need to victimize themselves with any hasty decisions.

It’s possible there’s nothing that can make this situation better right now, but there’s plenty that can make it worse.
