St. Francis (NY) beats Robert Morris 65-63

NEW YORK (AP) — Akeem Bennett scored a career-high 26 points and had nine rebounds to lead St. Francis (N.Y.) past Robert Morris 65-63 in Northeast Conference action on Saturday.

The Terriers (3-3, 2-0) shot 21 for 51 from the floor (41.2 percent) and overcame a 33-31 halftime deficit to earn their second conference win of the year.

Ricky Cadell added 18 points and Akeem Johnson had 10 for St. Francis (N.Y.).

Robert Morris (3-4, 1-1) outrebounded the Terriers 38-27 and shot 22 of 52 from the field (42.3 percent), but it wasn’t enough as the Terriers took advantage of their opportunities at the free-throw line.

The Colonials committed 23 team fouls, sending St. Francis (N.Y.) to the line 24 times where they converted 18 of their attempts (75 percent).

Russell Johnson scored a team-high 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting to lead the Colonials.
