BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Cameron Moore scored 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as Alabama-Birmingham defeat Kent State 75-59 on Sunday night.
The Blazers (7-2) shot 50.9 percent from the field (27 of 53), made 17 of 19 from the free-throw line (89.5 percent) and led 38-25 at halftime. The Golden Flashes (7-2) managed just 9-of-28 shooting from the field in the first half.
Kent State cut the lead to one, 45-44, on Rodriguez Sherman’s jumper with 11:06 to go, before UAB pulled away. The Blazers scored seven straight on a 3 by Aaron Johnson, followed by two free throws and a layup by Moore.
Johnson scored 19 and had eight assists, while Jamarr Sanders scored 14 points for UAB. Moore shot 12 of 18 for the game and was 4 of 5 from the free-throw line.
Sherman led three Kent State players in double figures with 15. Justin Greene added 14 points and Carlton Guyton chipped in 10.
