VERLOT, Wash. (AP) — Clear weather allowed searchers to remain on trails overnight into Monday morning as they look for a hiker missing at Morning Star Peak in eastern Snohomish County.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Randy Cervarich says 54-year-old Jack LaMont of Marysville is an experienced hiker but he wasn’t equipped to camp out overnight in the snow.

LaMont went for a day hike Saturday and was reported overdue Sunday by his wife. Searchers found his car at a trail head off the Mountain Loop Highway east of Granite Falls.
