KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — Kennewick police say they have arrested a man for investigation of a nearly 29-year-old death of a woman found strangled in her bathtub.

The Tri-City Herald reports that 56-year-old Jack Welch was arrested Tuesday for investigation of first-degree murder in the 1982 slaying of Rose Baugh of Kennewick.

Baugh was 25 when she was killed. Police Sgt. Ken Lattin says the case went cold until 2005, when investigators developed new evidence and identified Welch as a suspect.

Court documents say Welch was an acquaintance of Baugh. The documents say that in August this year, DNA evidence at the crime scene was found to match Welch.
