Mangano leads Yale past Albany (NY) 74-53

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Greg Mangano scored 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as Yale pulled away in the second half for a 74-53 victory over Albany (N.Y.) on Monday night.

Six points by Mangano started a 26-2 run by the Bulldogs (4-4) midway through the second half that gave them a 70-45 lead with 8:08 to play. The Great Danes (4-6) missed 10 of 11 shots over that span.

Mangano’s first 15 points came in the first half for Yale, which got a three-point play by Raffi Mantilla with 1:23 left to break a 30-30 tie and a 3-pointer by Porter Braswell as time expired for a 36-31 lead.

Braswell finished with 14 points and Mantilla 12 for Yale. Austin Morgan, who came into the game as the Ivy League’s leading scorer at 18.0 points per game, managed just three points.

Tim Ambrose, the America East Conference Player of the Week, scored 15 points to lead Albany.
