VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — The Vancouver woman who staged an acid attack appeared in Clark County Superior Court Tuesday and agreed to postpone her Dec. 20 trial date to March 9.
Deputy Prosecutor Tony Golik said the trial of Bethany Storry was delayed because of ongoing negotiations. Storro is charged with theft by deception for donations she received.
The 28-year-old received $28,000 to help pay medical costs after she said a stranger threw acid in her face Aug. 30 in downtown Vancouver. Prosecutors say she spent part of the money on clothes, dinner and a train ticket before admitting to police the attack was a hoax.
The Columbian reports Storro’s face is still bright red and scarred from drain cleaner burns. She is confined at a Vancouver-area facility.
