EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have signed former UFL running back Lorenzo Booker.

Booker played for the Hartford Colonials and rushed for 410 yards in seven games, leading the league with 5.4 yards per carry.

With Adrian Peterson playing on a sprained ankle, backup Toby Gerhart hurting his hamstring and third-stringer Albert Young injuring his knee in Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, the Vikings were thin at running back.

They placed Young on injured reserve to make room for Booker.

With Brett Favre injuring his shoulder and third-string quarterback Joe Webb injuring his hamstring against Buffalo, the Vikings also signed quarterback R.J. Archer to the practice squad.

They waived center Adrian Martinez from the practice squad to make room.
