SEATTLE (AP) — The King County sheriff’s office says DNA evidence has led to the arrest of a suspect in a homicide 27 years ago at a SeaTac motel.

The office says 46-year-old John Wayne Folds was arrested Tuesday in Florida with the help of the Pasco County sheriff’s office.

He’s awaiting extradition to Seattle on a murder warrant accusing him of the 1983 stabbing of Frank T. Kouny whose body was found by a maid.

The 36-year-old had traveled to Seattle from San Francisco on a business trip and was last seen alive at an airport car rental counter.

The case was reopened this year by cold case detectives. In November a lab matched DNA evidence with a sample Folds gave after a 2002 arrest in Florida.
