Car hits couple in wheelchair in Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — A man was riding a borrowed electric wheelchair in the street with a woman in his lap when it was hit from behind Tuesday night in Yakima.

Police say both wheelchair passengers were knocked to the ground. The 24-year-old man suffered a back injury, and the 24-year-old woman had injuries to her hips and legs. Both were taken to a hospital.
