Timmons seals Tulane’s 57-53 win over New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Kendall Timmons scored 15 points, including four late free throws, to lift Tulane past New Orleans 57-53 on Tuesday night.

The Green Wave (6-2) trailed 32-30 at halftime and made just 7 of 20 shots in the second half. But they scored nine points off six turnovers and had a 19-12 rebounding edge while outscoring New Orleans 27-21 in the second half to snap a four-game skid in the series.

The Division III Privateers tied it at 51 on Jaroslav Tyrna’s 3 with 2:07 left to play, but Tulane responded with four straight free throws by Timmons and two by Jordan Callahan. New Orleans missed two free throws and turned it over during the 6-2 run by the Green Wave.

Callahan and Aaron Holmes finished with 12 points for Tulane.

New Orleans shot 59.1 percent (13 of 22) in the first half, which it led by as many as 11.

Ryan Kinsley led the Privateers with 15 points.
