MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — New Minnesota football coach Jerry Kill has decided to keep two members of the previous staff.

The Gophers announced Thursday that running backs coach Thomas Hammock and director of football operations Dan O’Brien will continue in their current roles.

Kill said in a statement issued by the school he “can’t say enough good things about those two men.” Hammock was hired by then-coach Tim Brewster in 2007 and also served as co-offensive coordinator last season. Hammock worked under Kill at Northern Illinois.

Kill also said he was disappointed to not have a place on his staff for Jeff Horton, the co-offensive coordinator who became interim head coach when Brewster was fired in October.
