HONOLULU (AP) — Joel Parkinson won his third Vans Triple Crown surfing title Thursday, overcoming a cut on his foot that sidelined him for almost the entire ASP World Tour season.

The 29-year-old Australian won the ASP PRIME Reef Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa, was ninth in the O’Neill World Cup at Sunset Beach and 13th on Thursday in the Billabong Pro Pipeline Masters.

France’s Jeremy Flores won the Pipeline Masters.
