ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) — Firefighters worked into the early hours Friday against a massive fire on the Astoria waterfront.

The Daily Astorian reports the blaze has consumed a cafe and damaged an adjacent building but no one has been injured.

Astoria Fire Chief Lenard Hansen says the fire was reported around 10 p.m. Thursday and was still burning more than four hours later, but had quieted down somewhat.

The buildings are located over the river, supported on a network of wooden beams and docks, and firefighters were working to prevent the flames from spreading through those beams.

Officials haven’t determined what caused the blaze.
