EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Police say a fleeing man pulled a sawed-off shotgun on police, but he dropped the weapon and was arrested before anyone was hurt.

Police say he was riding a bicycle Thursday night when an officer tried to pull him over for traffic violations. He took off, and after a brief chase tried to flee on foot.

As officers approached, they say he took the shotgun from his backpack, then followed orders to drop it.

The 35-year-old Eugene man was jailed on weapons charges.
