Santa Clara turns back Houston Baptist 90-67

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Raymond Cowels III and Evan Roquemore scored 17 points apiece Friday night to pace Santa Clara to a 90-67 victory over Houston Baptist.

The output by Cowels and Roquemore represented season highs for each, and Roquemore had a career-high seven assists.

Marc Trasolini added 16 points and Kevin Foster had 12, all on 3-pointers, as the Broncos (6-5) turned a 43-35 halftime advantage into a one-sided game.

Great West Conference scoring leader Andrew Gonzalez had 22 points to pace the Huskies (1-9), and Sammy Obetoh had a career-high 20 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

Santa Clara drilled 10 of its 22 3-point attempts to 6 of 18 for Houston Baptist.

The Broncos held a shooting advantage of 46.3 percent (31 of 67) to 38.1 percent (24 of 63) for Houston Baptist. They also outrebounded the Huskies 48-35.
